STOP Motion

I’m going to paint you a visual picture of what goes on behind the scenes of creating a stop motion video. As a small business owner I get to wear many hats. For this creation, I get to wear my magician hat. Imagine me in my little dining room studio, not moving an inch while carefully moving desserts to create a stop motion video. While accomplishing this magical feat I have to tell my 4 kids not to walk downstairs at all. Of course, they still do, just in slow motion taking baby steps with their arms out wide for balance, So not only do I have magic going on as I create the stop motion video, I am surrounded by a whole symphony of quiet, silent movement! 😆 Ahh, the things we photographers do to get the job done!

Even with all the weights on my c-stand, there is still a little bit of a shake if anyone moves quietly or carefully walks downstairs. At times I notice that even I am holding my breath! When it is done, I breathe a huge sigh of relief ! As I see the final results of my careful efforts, I am thrilled beyond belief! I hang up my magician’s hat for now, where it is ready and willing to take on the next challenge that comes my way. I wonder what my next adventure will be through the lens of my camera!

I loved seeing Storybook Baking’s cookies dance around and put themselves neatly into their own little box. Such a magical moment!

This shoot and video creation was to help promote their Valentine’s cookie boxes! It turned out so dang cute! And you know my kids, (who like pretty much any other kids) were hovering close by, looking over my shoulder, wanting me to finish so they could eat my props!

When I first began learning stop motion I needed help. Who better to ask than my oldest kiddo! My oldest has autism and that means they have a superpower. Their super power is that they can animate anything. Their preferred medium is digital animation but I thought I would try and see how they would do with physical stop motion.

I asked them to help me and they jumped right in. They helped me create this little smiley face out of gummy bears. I was amazed watching them work. It seemed so natural for them to create the stop motion. Each tiny movement of every single gummy bear was intentional.

Storybook Baking Co

As a small business owner myself, working with other small business owners is one of my favorite things. Storybook Baking Co is one of those small businesses. They are an up and coming bakery here in Moscow Idaho, that I have the privilege of working with. The owners, Jess and Craig have been baking for years and it is evident if you have tasted their culinary delights. They are very eager to get a downtown location started.

Their current offerings include: Catering & a Monthly Bread Subscription to their fresh baked Artisan Sourdough.

Other places you can find them are Monica’s Coffee Bar and … if you happen to be out and about on a Saturday you will find them at the local Moscow Farmer’s Market. Be sure to get there early as their amazing cinnamon rolls sell out fast!

In an effort to get the word out around town that they are looking for a location for their brunch cafe and bakery, we did a photoshoot!

Feast your eyes on the full menu spread Jess and Craig pulled together of what they hope to offer at their cafe! We worked together to create a look and feel that would reflect them, their food, their talent. I for one can’t wait for Storybook Baking Co to come to downtown Moscow!
